Pet photography has been a popular American pastime since the birth of photography. It is particularly popular among unmarried women, weirdos who get along with animals better than people, and photography buffs. Even if you don't fall into one of these fringe groups you can still have quite a lark by dressing up your pet and photographing them.
The first thing you are going to want to do is go online and choose from any number of cheap digital cameras. Photographic technology has become a lot cheaper, more advanced, and easier to use in the past ten years. Buying cheap digital cameras online is easy, and with a digital camera you can upload your adorable animal pictures straight to your computer for the world to see. You should also get some camera accessories. Different lights, filters, lenses, and other camera accessories can be the difference between run of the mill pet photographs and Internet fame worthy pet photographs. Who knows, your cat could be the next Maru (the online cat phenomenon from Japan who has taken American by storm). Make sure you also get some camera lenses. You will want to use different camera lenses for the various photoshoots you create for your pet. Now we are ready to start making some pet photographs. There are two types of pet photography: staged and free form. What Is Coming in 2012 for Photographers

As a photographer, I'm always on the lookout for new technology. One of the biggest problems with any type of photography and looking at the latest technology is the lack of emphasis on actually taking photos. It is all very well wanting the latest and greatest but at the end of the day you should be taking great photographs with whatever equipment you currently use. New technology might help you get the odd shot more efficiently or hit the focus on the head. There is headroom for higher resolution sensors to crop.

Saying the above though doesn't mean you should not ignore new technology. So what is coming this year? We've already had the announcements of Canon's new flagship 1D X and Nikon's new D4. These two models are pretty much competing with each other. While it's a little early for any solid reviews, the models both promise excellent focus in low light and another stunning boost to ISO levels. ISO levels are going to ensure you can take usable shots in more dark environments. This will obviously aid all those wedding photographers out there.

While it is all good and well that people who have a higher budget can buy these flagships, the 2nd level need these features too. This year should almost certainly see the launch of the Canon 5D Mark III and the D800 from Nikon. There is some speculation to whether the new X naming will be adopted across the other models for Canon. With the launch of the more compact G1 X camera people would think so, but both these models are a departure from their previous versions. The 1D X being an amalgamation of Canon's 1D and 1Ds range and the G1 X now having a large CMOS sensor. Even if the follow up 5D doesn't move away or amalgamate with the 7D, it will make sense from a marketing sense to adopt the X.

So what can we expect from the manufacturers number two cameras. Personally I believe the megapixel race to be well and truly over. I firmly believe the sweet spot to be 18-21 megapixels and that it will be realised too in the Canon and Nikon follow up. There is talk of the D800 having in the 30MP range but this wouldn't make much sense. Nowadays it's all about low light photography and getting the lowest noise possible. Higher Megapixels makes that harder to realise.

Lens wise, Canon has been much talked about with the 24-70mm Mark II or IS depending on who you talk to. This year is highly likely to have that rumour finally realised. We've already seen possible patents materialise but at this time Canon's position is anything short of firm. Canon has spent the last couple years actually rebooting their telephoto prime range and now it's time for the short focal ranges to get some attention. I think it's 100% certain we will see two lens replacements this year. Canon' isn't stupid and refreshing loads of lenses at once doesn't make sense from a marketing perspective.

There's one thing that is for sure though, 2012 is going to be an exciting year for photographers around the world. No matter where you are or what you do: weddings, portraits or just like to shoot, all eyes on are on the two biggest players in the photography market.

Photography has over the years gained a high recognition in various activities related to man and his environment. Photography is more than just a hobby; it is a tool that has helped researchers to uncover useful facts that we all use to believe to be mysteries. The importance of photography cannot be over-emphasized because its advantage cuts across different works of life some are; technology, engineering, carpentry, office, nature, science, education fashion and lots more. Every profession that needs picture to be taken needs a good photographer and to become a good photographer you need to understand the basic rules of digital photography. Endeavor to read this article to the end as I have taken time to discuss some of this rules below,

THE RULE OF THIRD:

This is basically the simplest of all the rules in terms of composition. You only need to take an overlay of nine grids of equal sections. These means that you need to split both the vertical space and the horizontal space into three equal parts.

Generally, you will want to place important objects where the grid intersects. The grid is the point that gets the first attention and the most attention for that matter. So, ensure that you place your object of focus on the grid.

PERSPECTIVES:

This is one important part of photography that requires a lot of attention. Your perspective is more about the direction at which a shot is taken from it can also be called point of view. Good shots can be taken from different side of an object this includes the left side of an object, right, above, below and frontal view.

When you take a shot from below and object it usually appear stronger to the viewer but reverse is the case when you take a shot from the top of an object, that way the object appears smaller.

A picture taken from the left or right side of an object can often be regarded as simple and can sometimes be unprofessional due to its complexity. It is better to continue practicing this part as a starter until you are able to master it. You can practice your skills by placing your object on a specific position and then try taking shots from different angles. By doing this you will be able to get different shots with different appealing impression on viewers. This practice will develop in you the ability to take the most appropriate shots at different occasions.

USING SHAPES AND LINES TO ATTRACT THE EYES TO THE MAIN SPOT

What makes you a good photographer is your ability to make people see what you want them to see from your shots? So you should learn to concentrate on the most important things that you want to capture and make sure that your main object is centralized. You can also command attention to a different object by introducing more sharpness to it. Choosing where you place your shapes in your photo is very important. A shape does not mean that you are omitting details but using the available surrounding to magnify your object. Always make sure you consider your shapes and lines when you are composing your picture.

Hey, we all want to look great in a picture, right? What's the sense in hiding it? I know that when I take a picture I want it to show that I'm beautiful and happy.

But that isn't always easy. Some people are naturally photogenic and come out looking great in just about every picture (Angelina Jolie, for example). Other people don't do quite so well in front of the camera! Some may look awkward, uncomfortable, bad from certain angles or with certain expressions, you get the idea.

Well, no longer does this have to be the case. With the 4 little known tips listed below, anyone can have a great smile and look their absolute best in every picture they take!

Tip 1: Tell your brain that you're totally excited about taking this picture.

Alternatively, you can think about something or someone that warms your heart, or something really funny. This happiness will shine through your eyes so that your eyes are smiling too (very important for a genuine looking smile). When your eyes are smiling, they tend to look shinier and not as wide open as they usually are. Smiling eyes are very attractive, making you look open and friendly.

Tip 2: Open your mouth a little.

When you take a picture, it's often a good idea to leave a little bit of a space between your top and bottom teeth so that they aren't touching each other. It looks natural and makes teeth look better aligned.

Tip 3: Pick the right lip color!

Certain colors on your lips and face can make your teeth look better or worse than they actually are. For whiter looking teeth, avoid bright, bright pink or gold tinted lip colors and blushes. Instead, go with berry hued, brown or rose colors in your makeup.

Tip 4: Pick your smile based on your face shape.

If you have a wide or round face, you can accentuate the length in your face by dropping your chin slightly lower than usual while smiling. If you have a long, thin face, on the other hand, you're better off keeping your chin right where it is and focusing on smiling wider, filling out your face. Oval, heart or diamond shaped faces can handle any smile with grace and beauty.

I think I'll continue to bleach my teeth with Plus White 5 Minute Whitening Gel on a regular basis as long as I continue to feel no sensitivity. As soon as I start feeling like my teeth are weak or sensitive I'll stop because I'm deathly afraid of messing up my only set of teeth!

Tricks To Photographing Christmas Lights

Christmas lights, with all those incredible glowing decorations, just beg to be photographed, but usually they come out as colored pinpricks or a jagged blur of out-of-focus chunks of light. There are some easy things to fix all that.
The first thing you need is something to steady your camera on. A tripod is best, or gorilla pod. You can use a small beanbag or, in a pinch, set the camera on something solid. You will be working with longer exposures than you can hold without blurring.
For outdoor shots, the time of day is critical. Just around dusk or just before sunrise. By having some ambient light you can fill in the unlit areas of the trees and homes but still have the glowing light dominate.
Set your ISO speed to 400 or 800. If you go much higher you might start to get some grain or digital noise. You should test this; you will see the issue appear first in the shadow areas. Some of the newer cameras can go to higher ISOs, so do some testing.
Set your camera to manual for photographing Christmas. Set your aperture or f-stop to F8. This will give you a good depth of field for the focus. Going to f5.6 or f4 will give you more selective focus.
Start by setting your shutter speed at 1/30th of a second. As it gets darker you will have to slow it down to 1/15th, then 1/8th and so on. When you look at your LCD display you should see shapes in the shadows. A trick to help avoid camera shake when you press the shutter release is to use the camera's self-timer.
If you are advanced enough to change the color balance you can set it on daylight to get the warm yellow glow or on tungsten to get the lights closer to their natural or real color. This setting will also increase the blue cast to the rest of the image but that's okay, since it increases the tonal contrast of the image.
Use the Rule of Thirds to give your image powerful composition. Mentally divide your viewfinder into thirds vertically and horizontally. In the four points of intersection you should have something of interest in one or more of those points. A brighter or more interesting light or shape.
Indoors, you will still need the tripod but have a few of the room lights up, so there is some ambient light to fill in the areas the lights don't illuminate.
So to recap:
1) Use a tripod.
2) Set your ISO to 400 or 800.
3) Set your camera to manual - start with F8 and shutter speeds of 1/30th of a second, slow that down as needed.
4) Set your colour setting to either daylight or tungsten depending on the effect you want.
5) Use Rule of Thirds for composition.

1. Plan and make your reservations early

This is crucial, Brides. You need all the time you can get to prepare for the big day. A lot of brides start preparing six months before their wedding. Buy yourself a calendar. Jot down everything you need to find: location, caterer, decorator, flower arrangements, dresses, rings, cake, etc. If you're not hiring a wedding planner, get your bridesmaids to help you out. The Impact Of Snow On Your Wedding Photographs

It's been snowing! And the recent Snowfall has encouraged me to think about how well this rare snowy landscape would work for a wedding.

No matter when you book your wedding, it is always going to be impossible to predict the weather. I suppose this is why people tend to go for a summer date where it's more likely to be dry. But I wouldn't even count on that being in the UK. Imagine, though, you were to take the risk and go for a winter wedding, keeping your fingers crossed for snow. How great would your photographs look?

Snow would give the wedding photographer a great opportunity to experiment in ways usually impossible. For example, think about a portrait shot in the snow with all of the snowflakes out of focus and the bride & groom in sharp focus through the snow. Another possibility would be to capture the kids having snowball fights and playing in the snow. Having shots of the children playing in wedding photography albums is always popular so having the chance to do something new with that is fantastic. The possibilities are endless and the snowy backgrounds in your photographs would stand out from every other wedding photo album you have ever seen.

Snow, as we all know, has a natural reflective quality, and this quality could be very useful. Photographers are always thinking about different ways in which they can use light to enhance their images, and it often comes down to using artificial light, especially in weddings. In the event of a snowy wedding you could dump your lighting equipment and use your natural surroundings to help light your image. How To Shoot Beautiful Winter Wedding Photos

When I saw the headlights of a wedding car shinning through the thick winter fog the other day, I knew the appointed photographer for that wedding would need some seriously good luck to produce a satisfactory wedding album. In these recession times, more and more couples opt for a winter wedding because of discounts in prices and greater availability in this less popular season. So what should a photographer do to make sure the elements will not lessen the quality of his or her wedding photos? Here are some useful tips:

1. Lighting: natural light in the winter is hard to get and limited to only few hours. If you have to take photos outdoors, schedule it in the morning when light is the best. It is best to take outdoor wedding photo in natural light with a reflector and a tripod. If you use a flashgun, make sure to use a diffuser to soften the light. Off camera flash is better than on camera flash.

2. Dress warm: do I need to say why? Many brides may be happy to endure the freezing temperature and pose in only a wedding dress for that perfect shot of a life time. However if the photographer is feeling cold, he/she will naturally rush through everything to get back to the warm venue. So make sure to wrap yourself in many layers against the elements and stay calm through the shooting session. Advise the bride and groom that they bring a coat to keep themselves warm in between shots.

3. Shadow: be aware of the winter sun if there is one. Do not shoot towards the sun or position your subject in the sun because it can cast harsh, long shadows that can distract the viewer from the subject.

4. Colours: take advantage of the clean white backdrop that you will not get in other times of the year and pop out any objects of bright colours, such as the bride's bouquet or bridemaids' dresses.
